Cape Town Venues
Fitness
Almost every gym in this city sells a day pass, so a visitor can train without joining anything. What changes between them is the format, and the range runs from bouldering walls and climbing centres to a City-run swimming pool and a studio that puts you in an EMS suit for twenty minutes.
Finding somewhere to train in Cape Town is easier than it looks, because the day pass is the norm rather than the exception. Every gym and studio in this collection sells a single session, and several add a week or a holiday pass for anyone staying longer.
The formats are what separate them. The climbing gyms sit in Paarden Eiland, Bellville and the southern suburbs, and hire gear at the desk. The strength studios cluster along the Atlantic Seaboard and in the City Bowl, within walking distance of most short-stay accommodation. The City-run baths at the top of Long Street open every day of the year. One studio does nothing but twenty minutes of EMS with a trainer.
Most are bookable on the day. Where a session has to be booked ahead, the venue page says so.
