Overview
On the southern slopes of Paarl Mountain, Spice Route Destination is one of the Cape Winelands’ most vibrant and diverse attractions. More than just a wine estate, it is a collection of artisan producers, restaurants, tasting rooms and family-friendly experiences, all set against panoramic views of Table Mountain, Paarl Rock and the surrounding vineyards.
Founded by renowned winemaker Charles Back, the destination celebrates craftsmanship, flavour and creativity. Visitors can enjoy award-winning wines, craft beer, artisan chocolate, premium spirits, charcuterie, coffee and gourmet dining, all within easy walking distance of one another.
The Concept
Spice Route was created by Charles Back, owner of nearby Fairview Wine & Cheese, with a vision to bring together South Africa’s finest artisan producers in one destination inspired by the historic maritime Spice Route that connected Europe with the East.
