Rickety Bridge Wine Estate lies just outside Franschhoek, with vineyards, mountain views and a broad collection of wine, food and outdoor experiences.

The estate's contemporary tasting centre presents the accessible Foundation Stone collection alongside the premium, terroir-led Regna Loca range. Cellar tours, blending sessions, sensory tastings and a guided vineyard walk allow visitors to explore well beyond a standard tasting flight.

Wine Experiences

The Foundation Stone tasting includes eight single-variety wines that celebrate the building blocks of South African winemaking. Regna Loca, meaning local kingdoms, matches selected regions with cultivars that express their particular microclimates and soils.

The Theatre of Wine cellar tour introduces fermentation in amphorae, concrete eggs and stainless steel, followed by maturation in French and Austrian oak. Visitors can also book a blending experience or learn to identify common wine faults through a guided sensory session.

Restaurant and Estate Life

The restaurant serves bistro classics with South African influences, using locally sourced ingredients and pairing dishes with estate wines. A hands-on potjie experience combines collaborative cooking with a full Foundation Stone tasting for pre-booked groups.

Rickety Bridge also offers vineyard accommodation and a padel club. Its location on the Franschhoek Wine Tram makes the estate accessible without driving, while longer stays create time for walks, cellar experiences and dining.

Vineyard Walk

The guided vineyard walk explores soils, cultivars, winemaking history and the estate's long-term vision before finishing at a scenic viewpoint. It runs daily by prior arrangement and is subject to weather conditions.
