FRANSCHHOEKART & FINE DININGESTABLISHED 1694

Grande Provence combines award-winning wines with The Oak restaurant, a relaxed Bistro, contemporary art, sculpture gardens and boutique accommodation in Franschhoek.

Overview

Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate brings wine, food, art and accommodation together on a historic property at the entrance to Franschhoek.

Established in 1694, the estate balances more than three centuries of Cape heritage with contemporary hospitality. Visitors can taste the Grande Provence and Angels Tears ranges, dine at The Oak or the Bistro, explore the gallery and sculpture garden, or stay among the vineyards.

Wine Tasting and Pairings

The tasting room offers informal daily tastings with options ranging from the approachable Angels Tears collection to the premium and flagship flights. The flagship selection includes The Grande Provence White, The Grande Provence Red and Amphora.

Food-led experiences include a Cape Heritage pairing, an oyster and Méthode Cap Classique pairing and an Angels Tears nougat pairing. The Riedel Sensory Experience requires advance booking.

Dining, Art and Gardens

The Oak offers refined seasonal dining in a setting connected to the vineyards, gardens and historic Jonkershuis. The more relaxed Bistro sits beside the sculpture garden and outdoor tasting area, with lawns and a children's play space nearby.

The estate's gallery and sculpture garden add a strong contemporary-art dimension to the visit. Works displayed indoors and across the landscaped grounds make it easy to combine tasting, dining and art in one unhurried afternoon.

Staying at Grande Provence

Boutique accommodation at the Owner's Cottage and Vineyard Suites allows guests to experience the estate beyond its daytime programme. Its location on the R45 also makes it a convenient base for exploring Franschhoek and the wider Cape Winelands.
