This loop brings together two of Contermanskloof’s named descents, Supertubes and Cheeky Corners, using the farm’s climbing and linking trails to connect them into a single ride. The character is simple: gain the height first, then spend much of the return on purpose-built singletrack.
The 10.5 km configuration comes from a mapped route rather than an official Contermanskloof route sheet, so CapeCurated treats it as a useful way of linking established trails rather than as a separately named trail-centre route.
Route description
The route climbs through the Contermanskloof network before linking into Supertubes and Cheeky Corners for the main descending sections. Connecting trails return the ride towards the trailhead without requiring either signed descent to be ridden in reverse.
Technical difficulty
Trailforks grades this mapped loop Blue, which CapeCurated normalises as Intermediate. The main descending trails are purpose-built singletrack, so riders should be comfortable carrying speed and handling trail features rather than treating the loop as simple farm-road riding.
Fitness and climbing
Around 300 m of climbing is concentrated largely in the approach to the descending trails. The route is relatively compact, but the climbing is part of the ride rather than incidental access between sections.
Best time to ride
Earlier starts are generally more comfortable in hot weather. After significant rain, check current Contermanskloof trail conditions before travelling, as closures or restrictions can change with surface conditions.
