Vredenheim runs three separate wildlife products on one farm and it is worth knowing which you are buying. The Roofdierpark is the predator park, walk in without booking, and the reason to time a visit is the guided feeding tour that goes out at eleven and again at three every day. The cats are white lions, brown lions, white tigers, a brown tiger and leopards including a black one. The Dierewerf is the childrens animal farm at the other end of the scale, with alpacas, rabbits, goats, pigs, sheep and a pony in enclosures, a sandpit, jungle gyms and a bike track, and feeding bags sold at the gate. The third option is a guided game drive of about ninety minutes through the plains game, which must be booked and which includes entry to both the others.
Two quite different things share one estate ten minutes down the R44. The Big Cats park runs guided feeding tours of lions, tigers and leopards twice a day, which is a genuine event rather than a walk past enclosures.
The Animal Farm next door is the gentler half: friendly farm animals to feed, a bike track, a jungle gym and a sandpit. Together they fill a morning. Note that the estate is cashless and does not allow outside food or private picnics.
