Guided Royal Enfield tours from RETZA’s base in Salt River, the Royal Enfield experience partner in South Africa since 2016. You ride your own bike with a guide leading, on anything from a two-hour coffee ride to a full day around the Cape Peninsula.
You ride. This is not a chauffeured tour: RETZA puts you on a Royal Enfield of your own, a guide leads the route, and you spend the day on the bike yourself. A pillion seat can be added to a rider’s booking for someone who would rather sit behind.
The full-day Peninsula route leaves Salt River at half past eight and runs through the southern suburbs to Muizenberg, along the False Bay coast through Kalk Bay and Simon’s Town with a stop at the Boulders penguins, out to Cape Point, then back over Chapman’s Peak through Camps Bay and the V&A Waterfront. Franschhoek, the West Coast and a mountain-pass route are offered as alternatives, and there are shorter rides as well as tours of two to seven days.
The bike, petrol, helmet, jacket and gloves come with the tour, along with a guide, snacks and water. Cape Town wind is the main variable on the coastal roads, and a ride can be cancelled a day or two ahead if conditions are poor.
