A tandem microlight flight from a small airfield near Durbanville, flying low and slow over farmland and out to the coast.
A microlight flight is the most exposed way to see Cape Town from the air. You sit behind the pilot in an open cockpit under a fabric wing, with nothing between you and the view, flying low and slow over the farmland north of the city and out towards the coast.
The aircraft is steered by shifting a control bar rather than a joystick, and passengers are usually offered a turn on the controls under supervision.
Everything depends on wind. An open cockpit and a light airframe mean conditions a light aircraft would fly through will keep a microlight on the ground, so early mornings are the most reliable slot.
