Cheetah Encounter, Cheetah Outreach

A conservation centre on De Beers Avenue where several of the encounters involve actual contact.

Cheetah Outreach is open every day of the year and runs a ladder of encounters rather than a single product, from a few minutes with an adult cheetah through to a half hour private session. Some involve stroking the animal and some are observation only, and the centre is straightforward about which is which. The feeding tour and the cheetah run are watching, not touching. Alongside the cheetah there are caracal, serval, bat-eared fox, black-backed jackal, meerkat and the Anatolian shepherd dogs that anchor the livestock guarding programme.

Highlights

  • Open every day of the year, 10:00 to 17:00
  • Encounters range from six minutes to a half hour private session
  • Contact is part of some encounters and not others
  • Feeding tour and cheetah run are observation only
  • Caracal, serval, bat-eared fox, meerkat and Anatolian shepherd dogs on site

Tips

Arrive fifteen minutes before your encounter to check in. Groups of ten or more should book ahead, and anyone with mobility needs should make contact well in advance.
