Tandem Skydive, Skydive Cape Town

A tandem skydive from 10,000 or 12,000 feet, with views across Cape Town, Table Mountain, Robben Island and the West Coast.

Skydive Cape Town offers introductory tandem skydives from its West Coast drop zone north of Cape Town. After a short ground briefing, jumpers take to the air for a 10,000- or 12,000-foot skydive, with around 35 to 45 seconds of freefall followed by a five-minute parachute descent.

Skydive Cape Town operates from a drop zone reached via the R27 West Coast road, around 50 minutes north of Cape Town’s city centre. Its introductory tandem skydive is designed for first-time jumpers, with each participant attached to a tandem instructor throughout the jump.

After around 15 minutes of ground briefing, the aircraft climbs to either 10,000 or 12,000 feet above ground level. The jump delivers approximately 35 to 45 seconds of freefall before the instructor opens the parachute at around 5,000 feet for a descent of about five minutes.

Bookings are essential, and the experience is weather dependent. Earlier slots are recommended because prevailing winds can strengthen later in the day. Once booked, contact the operator for a weather check before driving to the drop zone.
