There is no spa district here. Destination spas sit inside hotels on the Atlantic seaboard and out on wine farms in Franschhoek and the Helderberg, and those are the ones that take most of a day. Alongside them are independent day spas in Sea Point, Hout Bay and Kalk Bay, head spas that treat the scalp rather than the body, and rooms built around contrast therapy, where what you book is a sauna and an ice bath rather than a therapist. Most of them will take a booking from someone who is not staying the night.

Access rules vary and are worth reading before you book. Some include the pools, sauna and steam room with any treatment; others admit spa guests to the property an hour and a half early; a few publish nothing at all and take bookings only by phone. Where a spa states its own policy we have used its wording rather than a general assumption.
