The Silvermine reservoir boardwalk is the shortest walk we list, and it is here deliberately. SANParks identifies a boardwalk trail of approximately twenty-five minutes on the banks of the reservoir, and it is level the whole way, which makes it the one outing in Silvermine that suits people who cannot manage a mountain path.
It starts at the reservoir day-visitor parking inside Gate 1 on Ou Kaapse Weg, and runs beside the water. Two much longer routes leave from the same area, the Panorama Loop and the climb to Elephant’s Eye, so it is worth being clear which one you are setting out on before you park.
Silvermine is a gated section, so a daily conservation fee is payable at the gate, which takes card only, and last entry is an hour before closing.
