A boutique studio on the third floor of the Equinox building on Main Road, teaching mat and reformer Pilates alongside barre and yoga. Mat and reformer are sold as single classes at separate rates, so a visitor can take one of either without a membership.
The Ivy Room is a boutique Pilates studio on the third floor of the Equinox building on Main Road in Sea Point, and it runs two quite different kinds of class from the same room.
Mat classes are the accessible entry point: no equipment beyond a mat and small props, and a format that suits someone who wants a strong core session without learning a machine. Reformer classes use the sprung carriage and are sold separately, at their own rate, because the class size is smaller and the equipment does the resistance work.
Both are available as a single class rather than only in packs, so a visitor can take one mat session, one reformer session, or a combination, without any membership. There is also a barre and yoga element to the timetable.
Booking runs through the studio's own web app, which lists the week's schedule and handles the purchase in the browser, so nothing needs to be installed.
Private and semi-private sessions across the reformer, the Wunda chair and the half Cadillac are arranged directly with the studio by phone or email.
