Glen Country Club

A multi-code country club above Clifton: bowls, tennis, padel, pickleball and paragliding.

Founded in 1955 in the Clifton scenic reserve, and it is not a tennis venue despite being the best-known place in the city to hire a racket. Its membership tiers bundle bowls, tennis and paragliding, which tells you what the club actually is. There are eight outdoor hard courts looking at the Atlantic with two of them floodlit, three padel courts, pickleball, three bowling greens between Clifton and Green Point, and a clubhouse with a bar and a restaurant. The access rules differ by sport and that difference matters: padel and pickleball are open to the general public through Playtomic, tennis takes visitors at a visitor rate, but the organised social tennis is for members only.
