Cape Point is one of South Africa’s most spectacular natural destinations, located at the southern tip of the Cape Peninsula within Table Mountain National Park. Famous for its dramatic cliffs, rugged coastline, breathtaking ocean views and diverse wildlife, it attracts visitors from around the world.

Often confused with the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point is a separate destination that forms part of the same protected reserve. Highlights include the historic Cape Point Lighthouse, the Flying Dutchman Funicular, coastal hiking and one of the world’s most scenic drives.

Plan Your Visit

Best Time to Visit
Year round. Mornings are calmest and clearest before the south-easter builds, and the reserve is busiest between mid-morning and mid-afternoon in summer.
Getting Around
A car is the practical way in, and the reserve charges an entry fee at the gate. Inside, the Flying Dutchman funicular runs from the car park up to the old lighthouse, or you can walk it. Distances between the Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope car parks are too far to walk comfortably, so plan to drive between them.
