Westlake Golf Club
The course

Westlake was established on land leased from Raapkraal farm, with a cottage as its first clubhouse. A nine-hole course opened in September 1932, followed by an 18-hole layout within four years designed by Dr D.C. Murray.

The club describes the present course as an 18-hole parkland layout. Its scorecard identifies three sets of markers by colour: yellow at 5,867 m, white at 5,558 m and red at 5,100 m.

Playing Westlake Golf Club as a visitor

Visitors may play without being introduced by a member, but Westlake’s by-laws state that admission is at the discretion of the General Manager or the person in charge of the course and clubhouse for the day.

The official visitor page provides a public tee sheet with live dates, availability and prices. Availability varies substantially by date, so use the tee sheet or contact the club rather than assuming unrestricted access.

The current published green-fee card distinguishes SAGA-affiliated and non-affiliated visitors and covers three dated seasons. Eligibility for an affiliated rate should be confirmed with the club. The card expires on 31 August 2026, and the next published structure has not yet been confirmed.

When the course is busiest

The current visitor pages reviewed do not state designated visitor days. The club’s by-laws publish member allocations on Tuesday mornings and afternoons, Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays, while corporate golf days are offered on Thursdays.

These allocations are not stated as a blanket visitor ban, but they may affect availability. Check the live tee sheet or ask the club when booking.

Hire, caddies and practice

Rental sets, golf carts and trolleys are listed on the official playing-fees page and are subject to availability; the club recommends reserving carts and clubs through the Pro Shop.

The official fee page lists a caddie fee but gives no booking or availability instructions. Confirm caddie arrangements with the Pro Shop.

Westlake publishes a driving range and putting facilities. Visitor access to practice facilities may vary around member competition days, so confirm access with the club.

Facilities

The clubhouse is the centre of things, with a forecourt for outdoor eating and drinking, a downstairs bar open daily, an upstairs bar tied to function bookings, and a halfway house doing breakfasts, snacks and lunch specials. Showers and locker rooms are available, and function venues are hired out. The pro shop sells apparel and custom-fitted clubs and arranges cart and set hire, and two PGA coaches teach here.

Highlights

  • Tee times bookable and payable online, with no account required
  • A driving range and putting green, open to visitors outside member competition days
  • Rental clubs, carts and trolleys through the Pro Shop, with cart availability shown at booking
  • Clubhouse open seven days a week, with opening times that shift by season

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a handicap to play at Westlake Golf Club?

Westlake's own online booking form marks the handicap number field as optional, so a visitor can book and pay without one, and the club's published visitor conditions do not list a handicap either. A recognised club handicap is required only to enter a club competition, which is separate.

Can overseas visitors book Westlake Golf Club online?

Yes, and the club encourages it. The tee sheet takes a real booking and payment rather than an enquiry, and no account is needed. The club sets its own payment terms, accepted card types and the window you have to settle in, and these change, so read its booking page before you rely on a particular card.

When can visitors play at Westlake Golf Club?

The current visitor pages reviewed do not state designated visitor days. The club's by-laws publish member allocations on Tuesdays, Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays, while corporate golf days are offered on Thursdays. These are not stated as a blanket visitor ban; check the live tee sheet or ask the club.

Where can I find current Westlake Golf Club green fees?

The current official card distinguishes SAGA-affiliated and non-affiliated visitors across three dated seasons: Spring, High and Low. It is valid only through 31 August 2026, so use the club's playing-fees page and confirm the next card once published.

Are caddies available at Westlake Golf Club?

A caddie fee is published, so caddies are part of how the club operates, but it publishes no booking instructions or availability statement. Ask the Pro Shop when you book.
