Milnerton reserves a named set of days for members, and it is the first thing to know before you plan a round here. The club publishes the list as Wednesday afternoons, Saturdays all day, Sunday mornings and public holidays.
The online tee sheet has looked tighter still, showing no visitor times at all on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays across an eight week window. That is what the booking widget offered rather than a separate rule: the club itself publishes a nine-hole sundowner from mid-afternoon on Sundays. Weekdays outside Wednesday are the straightforward option, and anything else is worth confirming with the club rather than reading off the online tee sheet.

The course
The course runs on a narrow strip between the Atlantic and the Diep River lagoon, flat and largely treeless, with sea or water bordering most holes and what the club counts as seven water holes. Wind and water are the defence rather than elevation, and Table Mountain sits across the lagoon in view from nearly every hole.
The club started as six holes in 1913. The present layout is by Golf Data, on kikuyu fairways with poa and bent greens. Because it sits on sand it drains fast, and the club promotes it as a course that stays playable through the Cape winter when others do not.
Playing Milnerton Golf Club as a visitor
The visitor tee sheet is public and needs no login to view. Reception and the golf coordinator also take bookings by phone and email, which is the better route for anything the widget will not sell you.
Green fees are published with a SAGA affiliated rate and a non-affiliated rate, plus a Monday and Tuesday affiliated special, student and junior rates. A water levy is stated separately and is not included in the green fee.
The club is cashless. It describes itself as a traditional members’ club with a dress code: golf attire on the course, no jeans or beachwear, golf shoes and socks required, smart casual in the clubhouse and no hats indoors.
Hire and practice
The driving range sits on the course itself, with balls from half past seven in the morning and last buckets at half past five. There is also a putting green and a chipping green with three practice bunkers, and lessons with the resident PGA professional.
Rental clubs, caddies and carts are booked in advance through the pro shop, which runs a sizeable cart fleet.
