Every hole here is a par 3. Eighteen of them make a par of 54, which is a different product from every other course in this collection, and the estate’s own visitor writing calls it a mashie course and puts a round at around two hours.
It is not a novelty pitch-and-putt, though. The estate describes bent-grass greens, strategically placed bunkers and real rough, and positions the course as challenging yet entertaining for both beginners and accomplished players, especially when the south-easter gets up.

The course
Eighteen holes on the Bottelary Hills slopes of Hazendal Wine Estate, with panoramic winelands views and indigenous trees and pockets of natural vegetation kept through the layout. Two tee sets are marked, black and white.
The estate publishes no hole distances in readable form and names no designer, so this page carries neither.
Playing Hazendal Golf as a visitor
Tee times are booked online and there is no membership structure at all. Green fees separate SAGA-affiliated from non-affiliated players in the adult category, with further rates for ages nineteen to twenty four, eighteen and under, over sixties on weekdays, hotel guests, students and juniors. A four-hole short play option opens after four in the afternoon.
The estate takes card payments only and states plainly that cash payments are not available. Opening hours are eight to six on Mondays, seven to six Tuesday to Saturday and seven to half past five on Sundays, closing early on 24 and 31 December and shut on Christmas Day.
There is a published dress code: collared or mandarin-collared shirts, neat pants, shorts or skorts, untorn jeans allowed, and golf shoes, trainers or closed flat-soled shoes. Sleeveless gym shirts, leggings, tracksuit pants, t-shirts, sandals, high heels and bare feet are all out.
Practice, and what else is on the estate
The practice side is unusually strong for a short course: thirty-two open-air and undercover InRange-enabled bays facing a 270 metre range, a large practice putting green, several chipping greens, a 90 metre pitching area, greenside practice bunkers and a fairway bunker. The range is booked separately from the course.
The wider estate carries wine tasting and a cellar, hotel suites and villas, a spa, several restaurants including a golf bar, padel courts, a putting park, a children’s attraction and a Russian art collection.
