Two slots in the week are not ordinary golf. The club’s code of conduct makes Wednesday afternoon and all of Saturday mandatory club competition for members and visitors alike, and only players with an official handicap may enter those competitions. A casual round on either is not on offer.
Booking is nominally online through Clubmaster, and the visitor tee sheet loads without a login. In practice it has shown no available times across a fortnight ahead, so phone the pro shop rather than reading an empty sheet as a full course.

The course
Eighteen holes in the northern suburbs, each named after a gemstone, on an open inland site the club describes as having beautiful fairways and bent grass greens it rates among the finest in the Cape. Water comes into play at the 12th and a road runs along the 6th.
Founded in 1967 and originally designed by Ken Elkin. The club says it has built a reputation for camaraderie and sportsmanship, which earned it the nickname the Jewel of the North.
Playing Durbanville Golf Club as a visitor
The 2026 visitors’ card runs the full calendar year and separates SAGA affiliated from non-affiliated visitors, with further rates for a member’s guest, seniors and ladies’ guests, students and juniors, and a Monday and Tuesday special.
It also publishes reciprocity rates for Langebaan, Prince’s Grant and Wellington, which is worth knowing if you are a member at any of those.
The club has gone cashless.
Practice, and what is on site
A purpose-built driving range runs thirteen open-air bays alongside a putting green, chipping areas and a practice bunker, operated by Pure Motion Golf Academy and open through daylight hours seven days a week. Balls are hired by the bucket during academy office hours.
The clubhouse carries a bar and a pizza kitchen taking last orders at half past six, and the halfway house is open to the public as well as to players. Dress is neat, recognised golf apparel with closed shoes on the course, and the club is soft spike only.
