The layout is nine greens with alternate tees, numbered 1 and 10, 2 and 11 and so on, played twice for a full eighteen at par 66. The club publishes both nine and eighteen-hole rates, so a short round is a proper option here rather than an afterthought.
There is no online tee sheet. Tee times are booked by phoning the club or calling in at the pro shop, and the club states that walk-ins are welcome subject to availability, which is unusual in Cape Town. It advises booking ahead for weekends and public holidays.

The course
A links-style course on the slopes above False Bay in the naval town of Simon’s Town, at the far end of the peninsula. The club describes an experience similar to a traditional Scottish links, and calls the course well maintained rather than championship-grade, which is the honest framing.
Nine greens are served by alternate tees to make up the round, so the second nine plays differently from the first off the same putting surfaces.
Playing Simon’s Town Country Club as a visitor
The club is emphatic about visitors: it invites golfers of every level for what it calls an affordable, fun, friendly game, and publishes a dedicated visitors’ fees table.
Green fees are split into affiliated and non-affiliated visitor rates, each with a separate tier for players over sixty. Clubs, trolleys and golf carts are all available for hire, so you can arrive without equipment.
What is on site
Fran’s Restaurant and the bar run daily from nine to five, and to eight on Fridays. The club opens at eight each morning. There are also two squash courts, and parking is free for members and visitors alike.
