The layout is unusual and worth understanding before you book. There are nine fairways and fourteen greens, played off separate tees to produce a full eighteen-hole card, and the club prices both nine and eighteen-hole rounds. In its own words the course belies its nine-hole status and plays very much like an eighteen-hole layout.
There is no online tee sheet. Bookings go through the club’s bookings line or email, so do not look for a booking button.

The course
Parkland in design, with bent grass greens over kikuyu fairways. The club describes large greens and wide fairways that stay very playable for the average amateur while still testing a lower handicapper, and notes that although the setting is coastal the course sits sheltered from the prevailing wind.
Golf has been played here since 1895, when the club was founded as Green and Sea Point Golf Club, taking its present name in 1906. The course was rebuilt around the 2010 stadium project by architect Mark Muller, alongside the Green Point Urban Park, which the club presents as a biodiversity showcase.
Playing Metropolitan Golf Club as a visitor
Visitor green fees are published in affiliated and non-affiliated categories at both nine and eighteen holes, with student and scholar rates and a group rate for parties of twenty four or more. The current rate card runs from June 2026 to May 2027.
Course hours shift with the season, running from seven in the morning to seven in the evening between October and March and to six in the evening from April to September.
