Erinvale is a members’ club rather than a pay-and-play course, and it names the days it takes visitors: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. No handicap or introduction condition is attached to that sentence, but a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday round is not on offer.
The second thing to know is that the club’s fee table renders as a header bar with no rates in it, so there is no green fee figure published anywhere on its site. Phone or email for a rate before you travel.

The course
Eighteen holes, parkland, designed by Gary Player and opened in May 1995 at the foot of the Helderberg. The club calls it a true championship course, and the ratings back that up: 74.6 off the back tee for men. It hosted the 1996 World Cup of Golf that November, won on home soil by Ernie Els and Wayne Westner by eighteen strokes.
The two nines have quite different characters. The first winds through narrow fairways flanked by estate properties. The second climbs toward the mountain, opening onto False Bay, vineyards, olive groves and the Helderberg Nature Reserve. Fairways are kikuyu, greens bent and poa, and the defence is well-placed bunkering, water and exposure to wind.
Four tee sets are published in metres: yellow at 6,440, white at 6,052, blue at 5,643 and red at 5,110.
Playing Erinvale Golf Club as a visitor
The club embeds a visitor tee sheet that loads publicly with no login or identity number. In practice it has shown no available times across a month ahead, including on the four visitor days, so treat it as a view rather than a booking channel and follow up by phone or email.
Green fees are seasonal, with high season from 1 November to 31 March and low season from 1 April to 31 October. Golf carts, clubs and bags can all be hired.
Practice, and what is on site
The driving range gives range balls free, and there are two putting greens, one at the range and one in front of the clubhouse, plus a bunker and a pitching and chipping green. Range hours run from half past six in high season and half past seven in low season.
The clubhouse is a recent rebuild with a 400 square metre terrace over the 9th and 18th greens, a restaurant running from breakfast through to dinner with a wood-fired pizza oven, a halfway house, generous locker and shower rooms, and a pro shop.
